This day falls on the 15th day of the 4th month in the Lunar Calendar.. This is the day when all the temples are full with buddhists gathered together to mark and celebrate this meaningful and special day..
On this day, i did voluntary work at Mangala Vihara Buddhist Temple at Eunos, Singapore.. This is my 2nd year doing this voluntary work.. I've stayed in my Grand-aunt's house as her house is nearer to the temple.. On Saturday, we woke up early and got ready to go to the temple.. We had some light breakfast and went there by cab.. We reached there quite early so we prayed first..
This is the Main Shrine Hall of Mangala Vihara Buddhist Temple..The image in the photo is the Lord Buddha Sakyamuni..
After we have finished praying, we (me, ahma & jie jie) went to look for our group leaders.. We were posted to different places.. I was posted to the Maha Bodhi section, which is the Bodhi Tree.. Ahma was is charged of the Shrine Hall alter & oil lamp section.. Jie jie was in charge of the crowd control for the oil lamp queue..
Ahma found hers very fast because her duty was to start at 7am.. Mine and jie jie's was 8am.. So the both of us walked around to see and also viewed the Buddha Relics (Buddha Relics are those remains from the cremation of the Buddha.. When humans were cremated, the remains are ashes and bones.. But when Lord Buddha undergo the cremation, the remains are sort of colourful stones..)
Jie jie and me found our group leaders very soonly after too.. We started working too.. As i was in charged in the Maha Bodhi section.. I took photos of my place..
This is where i worked.. The image is The Lord Buddha and the tree behind HIS image is the Maha Bodhi tree (The Holy Bodhi Tree was the place where Lord Buddha medidated & achieved enlightment.. Therefore, it was worshipped by Buddhism followers.. )The crowd was ok ok till around 10am.. There was like soooooo many people in this small space and i become so busy arranging those lotus candles that the people bought to pray to The Lord Buddha..

Aren't these Lotus Candles beautiful?
I arranged them 1 by 1 for them to look nice & neatly..
Lotus candles that were offered were placed on the rack in front of the Buddha image..
Worshippers queue-ing to put oil into the oil lamp for blessing themselves & their family as a significant..They will normally ring the bell beside the oil lamp after they put the oil into the lamp..
May you and your family be blessed..
I can't.. Cux it's alot...
The queue is for the oil lamp session.. (where my ahma worked..)
The main view of the Lord Buddha under the Maha Bodhi.. (Isn't it shiny and beautiful.. I just love it sooo much..)
Worshippers putting yellow candles on the rack that was prepared at the Maha Bodhi side..
It is the Candle Light Procession whereby worshippers walked around the temple for 3 times with joss-sticks & yellow candles..
Buddha relics and also various Buddhism and MV Flags will also be carried..
So many people with candles right? That sight was trully fascinating and amazing.. That night was so beautiful..
The Vesak Day celebration ended with the Candle Light Procession.. After the procession, we went for dinner around 9 sth.. We ate Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee near my grand-aunts house.. It was very full.. We went back home and we reached home around 10 sth.. We were so tired that i went to bed after my bath.. Jie jie said i was so tired that i immediately fell asleep after ahma talked to me.. I even snored.. Hahax.. Really tired.. But i was very happy cux i helped out.. I want to go for it again next year..
Thankx for those who viewed.. I know this post is quite "luosuo".. Hahax.. I just want to share my experiences with all my friends.. :P
